Der Budiker und sein Kind : Posse mit Gesang und Tanz in 3 Akten und 8 Bildern, ca. 1860s, 1878-1880.

The play is co-written by Salingré and Eduard Jacobson. The file contains materials related to rehearsal and performance, including a published copy (Berlin: Bühnen-Manuscripten-Verlag von Eduard Bloch, L. Lassar's Buchhandlung, n.d.), which has been annotated as a prompt-book; a handwritten scenario; and 20 handwritten role books, for the following parts: Radecke, Budiker; Male, seine Tochter; Daniel Kolbe; Würst, Maurer; Kommerzienräthin Wolff; von Priessnitz; Kimpelmeier; Lembke, Rentier; Eulalia, Lembke's Frau; August, ein Knabe; Runge, Thierwärter; der französische Lehrer; der dänische Sprachlehrer; der Haudujudu, ein Engländer; Auguste ("Guste"), Dienstmädchen; ein Viruose; eine Tänzerin; ein Arbeitsmann; Gräfin Radschinska; and ein Diener. The published copy probably dates from the 1860s. The list of characters gives the contemporary cast at Wallner-Theater in Berlin. Music is attributed to A. Conradi (titled "königl. Musik-Director"). Music is included here as follows: a published booklet, "Komische Duette. Zum Vortrag im Salon und auf der Bühne," of 2 songs from the play (Berlin: Eduard Bloch, n.d.), with a handwritten musical score for one song appended, both with lyrics; and a separate handwritten musical score for 5 numbers (no lyrics). The published music booklet includes the songs "Lern-Couplet" and "Berliner Genrebilder. Couplet mit Tanz." A note to the latter song indicates that the text was written by C. Helmerding (to music by Conradi), and that Helmerding also sang the song in peformance (he played the role of Radecke at the Wallner-Theater). The handwritten music appended to the published music booklet is entitled "Duettino aus Budiker und sein Kind, Würst & Male." The published copy of the play, the role books, and the published music booklet are all marked as belonging to Theodor Bloch, who was active in German-language theater in Philadelphia from 1873 until at least the mid 1890s, first as an actor and later as a prompter, and who also ran a theater lending library. Names of actors and actresses noted on the covers of role books reflect 2 casts that performed the play at Germania Theater, Philadelphia, in Nov. 1878 and Oct. 1880, as documented in 2 theater newspapers (see folders 703 and 692). A handwritten annotation on the title page of the published copy indicates that "Gräfin Male" is an alternate title, and the 1878 performance was given under the title "Die Schillerlocke, oder: Gräfin Male."
